These works are an effort to preserve the stillness that falls upon me in moments of awe and wonder. Inspired by vast, open landscapes, these paintings convey the beauty of the natural world. My compositional focus is on the horizon, marking that distant place where sky and earth convene. I am always studying color; I love color mixing in oils and especially finding the right colors to capture light-drenched sky and clouds. The fleeting nature of clouds with their ever-changing plays of light provide a great challenge, especially when painting en plein air.
